About

Allison Kelley is a Brooklyn-based comedy writer, author, and alleged grown up.

Hello!

I’m Allison, sometimes Ali, never Al. I cowrote the feminist joke book, Jokes to Offend Men, named the #2 comedy book of 2022 by Vulture. My work has been featured in The New Yorker, The Washington Post, Slate, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency and elsewhere.

I am self-aware yet proudly wear my heart on my sleeve. My writing is informed by my childhood in suburban Connecticut, my young adulthood in Chicago where I studied comedy and advertising, and my current adult-ish life in Brooklyn. I write frequently on the topics of nostalgia, teen angst and growing up in the suburbs.
